Dead cease-fire Society

A few days ago, the UN Security Council adopted resolutions on the 30-day cease-fire in Syria, and it seems that all countries have agreed to this, but what do we see in practice?

The fire continues on both sides, the humanitarian aid convoys can’t achieve its targets. The fact that with the civilians of Syria the opportunity to rest and replenish stocks also has fighters, who generously financier and supplies by the US government causes a controversial feeling.

The situation is complicated by the fact that the text of the resolution explicitly stated: the cease-fire does not apply to military operations against ISIS and “Dzhebhat EN-Nusra”, “Al-Qaeda” and other Islamist underground, so no any words about cease-fire here. The Syrian opposition is divided and represented by a wide range of forces, and it is not clear with whom, in fact, there to negotiate.

It should be mentioned that Eastern Ghouta is not the only place in Syria where intensive hostilities are conducted. Turkey has been conducting an operation in Northern Syria against the Kurds, which, according to the Turkish government, are a threat to the national security of the country. In this regard, the Turks do not yet demonstrate a desire to stop, which once again underlines the abstractness of the provisions of the resolution.

In general, everything is as usual: the world community expresses concern, talks, regional players solve their regional problems, and the civilians continue to die from bombing and famine.
